Front Page on Etsy!

This evening was the second time ever that one of my Desert Arts Pottery ceramic pieces made it to the Front Page of Etsy!

I'm very excited because the first time I ever made it to the Front Page was only three weeks ago!

I want to thank lovemosaichomedecor.etsy.com for including me in this fabulous Front Page treasury!

Front Page on Etsy!

This evening was very exciting for me!  I have been selling on Etsy since 2006 under several different shop names and tonight one of my ceramic items from Desert Arts Pottery made it to the Etsy Front Page!!!

My quail family is tweeting with happiness :)

An Intro to Desert Arts Pottery!

Welcome!

Since this is my first blog post I'll introduce myself.  My name is Dana Flemming and I'm originally from San Diego, California.

I've been working with clay for over 22 years and it's as fresh and exciting today as it was those many years ago when I took my first ceramics class.

I opened my Desert Arts Pottery shop on Etsy in 2009 but due to other obligations my shop has sat idle until very recently.  I'm very excited about getting my shop set up and running!

I have worked with all types of clay and forming methods and have tried every firing method possible including some pretty unconventional types of firings.

I have a Master of Fine Arts degree in ceramics and have taught beginning and intermediate ceramics.  I have a number of pieces in private collections and one piece in the permanent collection of a museum.

I'll be working with stoneware clay to create ceramic sculptures for my shop and will also be using a variety of vintage plaster molds to do some slip casting to create some anthropomorphic pieces.  I love mixed media and will be incorporating a variety of other materials into my ceramic pieces including mosaic tiles.
